Willow Bark – Scientific Name (Salix alba; S. daphnoides; S. purpurea; S. fragilis)

Parts Used: Bark

Main Actions:

Anti-inflammatory (reduces inflammation, pain, swelling and redness)

Analgesic (reduces pain)

Anti-rheumatic (reduces symptoms of arthritis)

Antipyretic (reduces fever)

Some therapeutic uses:

Osteoarthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Lower back pain

Ankylosing spondylitis

High fevers

Warnings:

Caution if pregnant or breastfeeding

Caution using with anti-coagulants and anti-platelet (blood thinning) drugs
